The Justice Department reports that a Duval County Florida man was sentenced yesterday to 60 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for committing two federal hate crimes by attacking two black women with a firearm.
Frederick Eugene Pierallini III (27) pleaded guilty on 6 July 2023 to the following crimes. On 10 Sep 2022, the defendant menaced one woman working in a convenience store with a loaded shotgun while directing racial slurs at her. Two days later the defendant encountered a woman sitting on a park bench and shot at her while racially denigrating her. Luckily the shot missed, but the victim was injured when she fell to the ground. On 14 Sep 2022, Pierallini caused two Lakewood FL pre-schools to go on lockdown by firing off the same shotgun nearby. The FBI and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division:
“No one in this country should have to live in fear that when they use public spaces or work at their job, they risk attack by someone who hates them because of the color of their skin.”
Thanks to a lethal cocktail of Florida’s ridiculously lax firearms regulations, racial hatred, and mental illness, two innocent women were almost killed two years ago simply for the color of their skin. Frederick Eugene Pierallini III needs serious medication and treatment, as well as therapeutic counseling on race relations during his five-year BOP incarceration.
And more importantly, the Sunshine State desperately needs Democratic leadership in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches PDQ to restore good governance for its residents. Sadly, enacting stricter gun control laws in the future won’t affect the massive arsenal of legal and illegal firearms already flooding Florida.
